Wellington District Māori Wardens
Kāpiti-Mana, Pōneke and Te Awakairangi
About Us
The Wellington District Māori Council area encompasses Kāpiti-Mana (Kāpiti to Porirua), Pōneke (Wellington) and Te Awakairangi (the Hutt Valley). The District Council appoints the District Commander who promotes the Māori Wardens kaupapa throughout the region, leads the Wellington District Māori Wardens collective and supports local autonomous Māori Warden branches in the collective. The branches include Ngāti Toa Māori Wardens, Te Whanganui-ā-Tara Māori Wardens, Lower Hutt Māori Wardens and Wainuiomata Māori Wardens.
